Nearer My God to Thee
This is a recording I did at home in October of 2017. I find that certain recordings touch me and it is not because they are perfect. I heard this again today. Listening without expectations it spoke to me so I thought to share it.
John Mello Luthier
I have been a very happy player of one of John Mello’s wonderful guitars. I first visited John in 2004 at his shop in Kensington. My wife and mother and father in law came with me. We all enjoyed John’s warm hospitality. Following the visit we listened for years to the CDs he gave us of musicians playing his guitars. I went back a couple of times and remained in touch casually. My terrific friend and guitar teacher Jon Harris had a party and I saw John. One day in 2017 I was on Spring Break. For some reason I thought to go visit John. I called him, drove over, tried a guitar, fell in love, and bought it. Dear John, thank you.

Classical Guitar Corner Member Spotlight
I created an impromptu recording to share with members of the Classical Guitar Corner site. Thank you everyone!
to whom it may concern
I have been working on digitizing a set of family films. The imagery seemed right for another project. I wrote a composition for guitar in 2011 following a trip to Spain. The Plaza Mayor in Madrid was the source of inspiration, it was Christmas. My friend Linda Tsardakas did a recording of the piece earlier this year. I asked her if I could use it in a video. Thank you Linda for your wonderful playing.
My cousin Jeanne is the source of inspiration for my compiled video. The scenes are from two 8mm films. The films show the happiness of our familly when she was born in 1950. The young girls playing are neighborhood kids. In this year of the pandemic the films, the photographs, and the memories are comforting. My goal was to create something universal with the joyful resources.
